The journal discussion

The journal discussion is the first step in the process

The journal discussion is a personal discussion that ensures that you are physically and mentally prepared for the process and that you get the advice you need.

You don’t have to have all your tests results before having the journal discussion, but all you papers should be in order before the actual insemination.

If you have previously conceived with assistance from StorkKlinik, please complete a new journal so that we have current details about you and hopefully an imminent pregnancy.

What do we talk about during the journal discussion?

The journal discussion is about you and your situation. We will review what you have written in your journal and inform you about the process.

We will support you in making your final decision. We will talk about the different types of donor sperm—contactable and non-contactable donor sperm. What are the advantages and disadvantages of choosing the extended profile of a donor? Why? What are your wishes and dreams, and what are the concrete factors?

Our attitude is that there is no one right decision, but there are a number of matters that must be considered in your personal outlook, your family background and where you are in your life right now. So use the journal discussion and our detailed questions to investigate and take note of what is more or less important to you regarding donor sperm.

During the journal discussion, we will also talk about the more emotional aspects and lifestyle. We do this on the grounds that if you have a healthy lifestyle before you become pregnant, you will have a healthier pregnancy and a healthier baby.

We assess your chances of becoming pregnant and discuss what you are happy to do to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.

We set aside about 45 minutes for the journal discussion. You can come on your own or bring along your partner or a good friend. If you have a partner, we recommend that he or she comes with you or is there if having the discussion via the telephone or Skype

Before having the discussion, we ask you to complete the electronic journal on our homepage and send it to us. It is not necessary to have made up your mind fully prior to the discussion. We have lots of experience in these discussions where you weigh up whether or not something is for you. Just let us know when booking the discussion that you want to clarify some things.

The first time you come to the clinic, you will be asked to show ID. Similarly, our receptionist will take a photo of you.

Journal discussion via SKYPE

You can choose to have the journal discussion via Skype. Just mention this please when booking the discussion. Similarly, you will be asked to email us your Skype ID/Skype name, if you have not already done so in the electronic journal.

"Gro and I were sitting in bed with the telephone between us. The loud speaker was on so that we could both hear what was being said". "The voice on the other end was warm and welcoming. I got the impression that the lady at Stork understood that this was emotional and special for us. She knew what we had to go through, and she made us feel more and more secure. No questions seemed stupid".

Quote from the book "Anja+Gro=Mio" (Kunsten at få barn) - written by Anja and Gro Hammerseng-Edin
