Statistics

Please note that the numbers above refer to the number of completed inseminations and not the number of women we have inseminated in 2008.
The numbers can be read as follows:

Are you between the ages of 20 and 24 on average you will need to be inseminated a little more than twice before you may become pregnant.

Are you between the ages of 25 and 29 on average you will need to be inseminated 3 โ€“ 4 times before you may see a result.

Are you between the ages 30 and 34 on average you will need to be inseminated 4 times.

Are you between the ages of 35 and 40 on average you will need to be inseminated 5 โ€“ 6 times.

Are you above 40 years of age there is a risk that you may need 10 โ€“ 12 inseminations before achieving a positive pregnancy test.

This time frame is comparable with the time it might take to become pregnant having regular sexual intercourse with a male with good sperm quality.
But do remember that one thing is average and statistics another thing is what the actual reality might be for you.
Some women need to be inseminated more that the above average and some women above 40 become pregnant relatively fast.
One of the crucial things in becoming pregnant is the quality of your eggs.
The quality of the eggs decrease with age regardless of how regular your periods may or may not be.

The risk of miscarriages is also the same regardless of the way in which you conceive.
Statistics for 2005 show that are you under the age of 35 the risk of miscarriage is about 19%, if you are above the age of 40 it is unfortunately 44%.
The reason for this is that it takes longer to become pregnant and the risk of miscarriage is that much higher when you are above the age of 40 because the eggs get older and are therefore no longer of the same quality.

As mentioned in the section regarding the emotional aspect it may be demanding and trying on several levels to have to be inseminated repeatedly before achieving a result.

Please note that the law in Denmark allows for the insemination of women until the age of 46.
The chances of becoming pregnant and giving birth to a healthy child is unfortunately very small if you are in your mid 40ties.
