Donors
We buy donor sperm from two acknowledged sperm banks in Denmark:

The donors are Scandinavian looking men with an average age of about 25 years.
In special circumstances we may send for donor sperm of other ethnical origin.
Most sperm donors are students from the institutions of higher education in Denmark and their motives are typically idealistic and financial.
To become approved as a sperm donor, the donors have to go through several medical examinations and have a “healthy” track record.
In guidance note of 30 September 1997 from the National Board of Health, you may read extensively about the medical examinations, sperm donors have to go through before a handful (8-10%) are approved and may be used as sperm donors.
Before the donor sperm is released for sale, it must have been quarantined and the donors must hand in negative HIV-tests, 3 and 6 months respectively post donating.
This is a requirement from the Danish National Board of Health to the sperm banks to diminish the risk of HIV transfer.
Anonymity
Donation takes place completely anonymously and we have no personal knowledge of the donors.
Open donors
You may choose to be inseminated with so-called open donor sperm.
The child may, as the only one, be informed of the donor’s identity when it turns 18 in case there is a need to.
It is important to be aware that an open donor is not the same as a father and never will be.
